The fact that Google Chrome is a dangerous browser is well known, but a recent analysis from Atlas VPN puts it into perspective. The data indicates that those using Firefox and Google Chrome both need to exercise caution.

The analysis claims that Google Chrome, the most widely used browser in the world, will also be the most susceptible in 2022. Over 303 vulnerabilities have been found so far this year, bringing the total to 3,159. The VulDB vulnerability database, which provides statistics from January to October 2022, served as the data’s primary data source.

Within the first several days of October, new vulnerabilities were exclusively found in the Chrome browser. CVE-2022-3318, CVE-2022-3314, CVE-2022-3311, CVE-2022-3309, and CVE-2022-3307 are the new ones’ codenames.

The CVE programme monitors security issues on various systems, but at this time there are no specifics on these vulnerabilities. However, according to the research from Atlas VPN, these problems can cause memory damage on your computer.

The good news is that Google has already repaired all of these security flaws, and updating to version 106.0.5249.61 will take care of them.

In terms of vulnerabilities, Mozilla Firefox came in second. Up until October 2022, it has more than 117 bugs, while Microsoft Edge had 103, which is 61% greater than the previous year. Since its release, it has had 806 flaws.

Safari landed in second place in 2022 with one of the fewest vulnerabilities. Only 26 defects have been found in 2022, out of a total of 1139. Opera has only 344 vulnerabilities in all, with no cases of them having been reported thus far.

It is important to note that Chrome, Edge, and Opera are all Chromium-based browsers, meaning that flaws in one could impact the other two. All of these browsers’ source codes are generated by the Chromium open-source project, however since each company builds its browsers differently, not every bug will affect every browser.
